An old African proverb says- it takes a village to raise a child.
I say, if not a village, at least it takes a whole bunch of family.
My refrigerator is now plastered with a brand new batch of family photos that came for Christmas. Our family is multiplying faster than the tadpoles in a mountain pool!!
I dare say its almost impossible my wee little ones to visualize the branches of your family tree as they span out around sweet little YOU. The protective, sheltering network of branches that surround you is a stunning sight to behold... And wonder of wonders, it'll never stop growing!!
Picture little, talented, adorable you at the center, tucked nicely in the cleft of this marvelous tree, wrapped up in the love of your immediate family, your mom and your dad, your brothers and sisters. Then try and think about all the people that they love. That would be your grandparents...including ME...and your uncles and aunts and all the cousins. And there are the great-grandparents that know and love you too of course!! Then think about the people they love too. Your world is fluttering brilliantly with people that love you and care about you. And make no mistake...they REALLY LOVE you!!! You are in their thoughts and in their prayers every day and night. All of us are now so easily interconnected...through prayer, email, phone calls and conversations and of course our modern fun of Facebook.
When you've ticked off your mom 'cause you wrecked her sewing machine trying to sew leaves to your socks...or when your brother is fuming 'cause you stole his girlfriend, or your dad wants to ground you for a month 'cause you spray painted the wheel wells of his car with green paint, or your sister is scream'in irate 'cause you let your gerbil loose in her room.....Love and understanding and a listening ear can always be found among the many branches of our family tree!! ALWAYS!! "Though your sins be as scarlet" you will find love and acceptance and a cheering section!! Some of us will offer you Oreos with plenty of cold milk, others will tell you a story, or fix your computer, some will knit you a warm hat and scarf, others will offer encouraging words and cheer, and some will have wise counsel or cash. Doors are always open, there is always room at someones table, there will always be something delicious to share. THis YOU can count on!! Thats how Mimi sleeps at night. 'Cause I've experienced this first hand myself. Your Family Rocks little ones!! Just Rocks and ROlls and SUpports!!!
