My day old child lay in my arms,
With my lips against his ear.
I whispered strongly, "How I wish--
I wish that you could hear,
"I've a hundred wonderful things to say,
(a tiny cough and a nod),
hurry, hurry, hurry and grow
So I can tell you about God."
My day-old baby's mouth was still
And my words only tickled his ear,
But a kind of light passed through his eyes,
And I saw this thought appear:
"How I wish I had a voice and words,
I've a hundred things to say.
Before I forget, I'd tell you of God --
I left Him yesterday."

Sunday morning I awoke knowing that I had succumbed to a nasty cold once again. (oh how I hate winter time) Nevertheless, I got dressed and ran a comb through my rumbled hair, determined to make it to Joe and Natalies church to witness the blessing of their first born son!!! I sat, all feverish and glassy eyed on the back row of their chapel, and watched as friends and family streamed in in support of Joe and Natalie and beautiful baby Logan. Before the meeting even began I was soon touched by an overwhelming sense of gratitude for my life, for the life of our children, and for all the dozens and dozens of people that help us along the way!! I wont dare attempt to list all the people that took time from their own busy Sunday lives to be with Joe and Natalie on this momentous day- I am ever famous for leaving very important people off the list.... just know that there were old friends from high school and lots and lots of family. There were respected colleagues from work, and cousins and uncles and brothers all gathered around in a tight knit circle, laying their hands on Logans tiny head, as his father bestowed the most beautiful, eloquent blessing that I could imagine coming from the fruit of my slow to speak loins. Joe did an amazing job blessing his child. He paid honor to his beautiful wife and mother of their son, he blessed him with wisdom and knowledge to make good choices in his life. We heard all the things that we want to hear for our children to have happen in their lives. But Joe said them with such faith and conviction in the sure knowledge that a loving Heavenly Father was listening. How truly blessed we are to know and understand the plan for us here on this glorious earth! (though this earth has way too may cold spots for my liking!!) How blessed we are to be families joined together forever by sacred covenants made in our beautiful temples!! I am so lucky and blessed and am determined to be the best dang grandma I can!!

That is so exciting. Wow. When I knew you, there were absolutely no grandchildren in the mix. Hehe. How wonderful how time flies. I am happy that so many family members could be there. I am lucky to know them all. Lots of love to you and your family this New Year!
I bet it was a beautiful day. Nothing better than the blessing of a grandbaby!
Congrats to all!
Joe did an amazing job! Natalie told me how nervous he was! Hope you are feeling better!
There's no greater joy than seeing your children HAPPY! What a wonderful start to their family and they're so blessed to have sweet grandparents to share it all with. PS You need to live with me this summer and get all the warmth you can stand!
Wish we could have been there. Miss you all!
Beautiful Blessing! :)
What a beautiful blog entry Cindy. Brought tears to my eyes. Dad told me about it and the wonderful testimonies that Joe and Natalie bore during testimony meeting that day. He was really touched, I could tell.
Love the family picture on the steps. Natalie is holding someone I can't place. That will confuse generations to come a few decades from now. ;)
