Given a chance, a child will bring the confusion of the
world to the woods, wash it in the creek, turn it over
to see what lives on the unseen side of that confusion.

flood damage...impressive!!
Who knew that today would be the day that I accomplish one more thing on my bucket list!!?? For years now I have wanted to hike down the Virgin River Gorge, following the river. Today...instead of hiking we did something better!!! We floated the river!!! I soggyied my toes, my butt in the muddy, lazy waters and in the hot desert sun. I bounced off rocks, took a plunge over a small waterfall and basked lazily in the morning light on a big fat inner-tube. (until it became a blazing HOT sun, which I then did all I could to cover up as much skin as I could. ) We saw hawks, bluebirds, blue herons, and a small river otter. The sights and smells were every thing we wanted. What we didnt know.... IT TOOK US 8 HOURS TO FLOAT FROM BLOOMINGTON TO CEDAR POCKET!!!! We pulled out our sore and abrasied bodies at The Pocket and prayed that our phones werent too water logged to make a call home for our pick up!!!
I LOVE this gorge! I love driving fast over its winding highway, I love the geology, the light and colors and the ingenuity of man that it took to build such a glorious thoroughfare through such forbidding rock and clime!! To travel its deepest regions this day; to look up even higher to its lofty heights....Blissful!!! Awe inspiring!!! Inspirational!! Life is good and full of simple pleasures!!!
Amen and amen!!!
