Stephenson Family Ties The Barn Burnt Down
And Now I See The Moon
...the lengthening shadows that signal the end of
daylight; the darkening clouds or rushing winds
that herald cold or storm; the distant horizon that
hides the unknown 'over the hill and far away'- all
are pointers that have rewarded response and appreciation.

Things I've LOVED this Week:

Instant messaging on facebook!!
I can convey my love daily to my son in Provo, my niece in Highland, my dear friend in Illinois, and my daughter in the arctic regions of northern Utah!! The wonder of it all.  For some reason its sometimes more fun to communicate by way of instant messaging  than to talk directly...go figure...Could it be that Im a better communicator in writing than in speech!? Im a weird one Mr Grinch.

Jumping Jacks with a grandson!
At first I was a little reluctant to join in on the fun of the place. I was happy to just watch and encourage the happy madness of jumping and sliding on the big inflatables. Then I decide to throw caution to the wind and join L in the fun!!  And beside getting a few vinyl burns on both knees, an elbow and on my eyebrow...I had as much fun as he did being silly and active and crazy on the toys!!!  We had a kissing slide...where we had to  give each other a sloppy kiss before going down.  We had the hand holding slide and then we had the slide that he sat on my lap and we had to yell as loud as we could while going down on our backs!!!  We raced each other up the climbing walls...I was good at it by the way!!!  We jumped like crazy kangaroos and I was happy to watch him kick box his way through the mazes!!!  We were there for hours!! Literally!!! And its no exaggeration  to say that the little guy was out for the count before we made it to the highway home!!! I wore him out!!!  Thats not easy to do with big L!!!

Returning guests to Desert Cliffs!
Beautiful faces, good memories and new memories!  Grand sites, strenuous hikes, plenty of coral dust between my toes, and promises to return again someday soon!!  Have I told anyone recently how I love my job!!!

Sunshine!!
I've been reminding myself that it was only last week that we were hiking in the snow and the rain and the cold!! This week... 70's and 80's! Blue skies, light breezes...except for Wednesday(gale like winds attended us on Camelback)...wildflowers galore!
Lots of people in town..sharing "our" trials...with smiles on their faces.   Pleasant company, happy attitudes, and great guides to share the responsibility!!

Things to Look Forward to:
Womens Conference is in a couple of weeks. Its going to be a little different this year..which is a GOOD thing.  Fewer folks going up with me.  In fact...its just going to be me, my mom and Sue this year.  And this is my mom's first year to attend!!  We're going to have such fun!!  First activity on the roster...to visit the museum and see the Carl Bloc display!!!  Then the Provo Temple.  Then food....lots of yummy food. I told my mom that Womens Conference is as much about the food as it is about the spiritual fulfillment that the 2 days lend.
There are 2 weddings coming up soon too. One that we find we cannot attend...sigh...its a tough thing not to be in attendance to such an important and sacred occasion.  We pray that Stephen and Ginny understand. And that they know we LOVE them and will be thinking about them on their big day!!
Anna and David and Lucie are coming to town!!
Clark is coming to town too...for a whole week!
The St George Arts festival will be here soon as well.  I love this event.
Saturday is the Annual Kite Festival at SunRiver!  We love going out there for a few hours to soak up the sun and share the fun with the kiddie flying their kites!!
Joan and David are coming back for a visit from Canada!

Young Womens!!
Yep...its true...I now look forward to Sundays and Wednesdays...so I can spend time with these delightful girls.  We have a BIG activity this week...our Annual Girls Camp Fundraiser Pasta Dinner.  Im a little concerned...that the new leader (me) may jinx this highly anticipated and supported activity, and that the generous folks of the ward wont be as charitable as in years past...the unknown is always a little scary.  My fingers and toes are crossed.

Hiking!!
Babylon Trail and Red Cliffs with Pamela!
Camelback and Gunlock Falls with the whole hip group of women!
3rd Ravine with the whole hip group as well.
and of course Zion National Park...with anybody or nobody.

The St George Temple
I find that Im running to the temple once a week!!  Im grateful...in my old age, that I now have time to go every week.  Its changing me.  I feel closer to my Maker.  Enlightenment comes easier.  I am grateful.

Our Local Parks

We snatched up Logan and Liam the other afternoon and took them to the park.  No shoes and socks required...no coats and jackets either.  These two brothers are delightful in their separateness.  They are 14 months apart in age and already 2 brothers couldnt be more different from each other!!  Older brother is shy and timid and reluctant to try new things.  He's neat and tidy and doesnt appreciate his MiMi trying to bury his piggies in the sand.  He has no interest in exploring the slides and monkey bars.  He's the observer.  He likes the solitude of the swings and the edge of the sandbox.  Then there is little brother Liam.  Hes been walking for less than a week...and already he relishes the  sand and wood chips between his toes.  He b-lines for the slippery slide and climbs through the ominous blue tube tunnels.  He can care less if there is anybody at the bottom of the slide to catch him.  The water parks in town bring other challenges and delights for these handsome grandsons of ours...water seems to bring out the courage in them all!! Of course!!! Next time- sandbox toys and plastic cups for water fights!!!

Live Long and Prosper Everyone!!!
