Stephenson Family Ties The Barn Burnt Down
And Now I See The Moon

Missing Missionary Monday!!!

It is almost impossible to write fiction about the Mormons,
for the reason that Mormon institutions and Mormon society
are so peculiar that they call for constant explanation.

There are a lot of perks for serving state side!!
One all important reason.....Panda Express!!
My boy eats well. The members in California love the missionaries!!
We are so grateful!!!

Bump day for Elder Stephenson. (meaning that he has been out 6 months)
On this day there is a silly ritual they perform;
watching an ugly tie go up in flames.

And then look what else came in today??!!
An update and photos from dear Elder Seeley too!!!

How is San Pedro? Am I getting more comfortable? Yes. And yes. I love San Pedro now. I have to admit. . . Earlier on, it was pretty tough. The days were SO LONG. It's really hot in San Pedro and somedays we had no idea what we were going to do, sometimes lessons/plans fell through and my comp, E2(!)lder Gillmore would say the classic line, "Well. Looks like we're going to have to do contacts all day." Oh man. For me and a lot of other missionaries, doing contacts is like the equivalent of pulling weeds. It's something that needs to get done, but nobody likes doing it. There have been some days over these past few weeks where I literally, just crashed my body in a downward thrust into my bed. It's been so tough. But yet so rewarding. I had always heard from great elders that some of their best cambios (exchanges) that were the best was when they were working the hardest. I have to say, regret to say, that I didn't always believe in that. But now I know why it's so important.
And the fruits have started to show from our labors also. This last Sunday. I had the rare priviledge to sit next to 2(!) investigators in Church! I know that might not sound that amazing. But trust me. It most definitely is. There's no better feeling than to sit with investigators that you've grown to love sit and hear and feel the Spirit on Sunday. It's the bomb!"!
Cool story. One of the investigators that came to Church. Her name is Elisabeth. Just like Beffy in our family. I love you Beth. Anyways. Guess what time that we found this lady? Alright. . . . Everybody has their guesses? 9:45 pm at night. 9:45. We're supposed to be home at 10:00 at night. UNLESS. We're in the house of an investigator teaching. Well. I tell you what. After contacting the entire day without much success. The Lord saw fit to bless me and my comp at the last moment of the day. And I have to give my comp credit. He touched the door bell. I did not want to contact another person so long as I lived. We went inside her home. And she opened her heart to us. After that she fixed my backpack (This lady works with fixing clothes, etc. Has some very nice machines.) that had a broken strap. We taught her about the apostasy and Joseph Smith on Saturday and invited her to Church. At first she said NO. At the beginning of my mission that would have destroyed me. But we continued to teach her and promise her blessings and she came to Church on Sunday! When it talks in Nephi about a "multitude" of tender mercies from the Lord. It does mean a multitude.
Well guys. I have 15 minutes of mail time left. I was thinking about writing my trainer here on the mission and asking him some questions. I LOVE YOU GUYS! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOU DO FOR ME! SEELEY FAMILY ROCKS! WOO HOO! enjoy the pics also.
