We spent a morning hour at the local soccer field...watching bewildered, pint-sized compatriots try to grasp the intricate game of soccer. These little players were trying to understand a whole new world of team playing, boundaries, and most importantly, why so many grown-ups on the sidelines were getting so riled up about kicking the ball in the right direction!!!

We KNEW that our grandson was particularly gifted with a soccer ball. But add to the mix other veritable toddlermates, excitable adults, too many treats, and short attention spans, and even sweet Lachlan melted into an inconsolable patron of the game. We were witnesses to a certain comedy of 'errors!!!"
Thank heaven for 10 minute halves, gogurt, and juice sacks!! Not to mention father/mother coaches and ref's, cheerleaders and advisers- for the tears and meltdowns were plentiful- as numerous as all the onlookers. There were plenty of goals and high fives to go around as well.

Good fun is the intention. And for the most part it was had by all. Undoubtedly these little fellows will forgive the loud whistles and the parent and grandparent's attempts to cajole them into action when all they really wanted was to have nothing more to do with the game. Most certainly though, they will all soon be wondering with great impatience how long they'll have to wait for the next game to begin!!!
Go Orange Crush!!!
Go # 4!!!!
We love you

Oh my gosh! Great pictures and great post, Cindy. Love it! Even the team name is classic childhood soccer. Brings back so many wonderful memories of when my boys were little and their first soccer games. They grow up way too fast and then play with such intensity that they break bones during soccer games! ;)

Go little #4! What a cutie.

Oh, our brave, adorable little man! We forget that he's only THREE! And three is more than two and so much less than four. I hope he can read this post by his Mimi when he's the MVP on the high school team!
