Its so hot, Mister Dunn's rooster
walks in my door and squats his red
self right in front of my kitchen
fan. I come in to find him looking
at me like I aint moving nowhere, lady.
He'd rather get beat with a broom than
go back out in that nonsense.

Ok!! OK!!!
Uncle already!
There's a lesson Im to learn....obviously!!!
Apparently Im a slow learner.
We spent another night under the curse of a malfunctioning air conditioner. Twice now we have lost the blessing of cooling our home in this heat. July and August is NOT the time to have this happen here in Southern Utah. Twice now we have commiserated with the pioneers and their trials of settling here. How they did it I'll never know.
Yes I do sweat profusely as I hike the paths here...even at 6:30am. Sweating in my own home at 11:30pm is quite a different matter. wah, wah, wah.
Bless the dear repair man who arrived bright and early at the door, and who is scrambling around at this moment, in the attic, looking for the problem. Bless his skills.
Now having shared with you my grievance for the week...I've also compiled a list of pros and cons that I have discovered about our move:
Im happy to report that the pro's far outnumber the cons.
CONS
1. &2. We miss the pool. Already we are seeing less of the kids. (I guess that's a double jeopardy)
3. The fridge is too small
4. The microwave is even smaller. A loaf of bread would feel cramped in there.
5. We have to drive past to old place to get here.
6. I love my windows....but how the heck to you keep them clean, streak free??!!!
7. Last but certainly not least, the tri-mart is farther way...Pepsi runs arent as convenient!! dang!!!
PROS
1. I have an attached garage, with a working automatic opener that works! A garage with real storage shelves and places to put things. A garage that holds cars!!! Hallelujah!!!
2. Speaking of garages...this one is close to the kitchen. Which makes it so much easier unloading groceries!! Who knew!!??
3. This smaller home is so much easier to keep clean.
4. I love the windows every where...though keeping them clean... (see above note)
5. Back to the garage...there's an extra fridge in there!!! Wonderful thing!!!
6. Ceiling fans in most rooms...ahhhhhhhh
7. I watch someone else out the windows, taking care of the yard.
8. Maintenance troubles are solved with just a phone call.
9. No freeway noises. Its so quiet here. Even the golfers are as quiet as church mice.
10. Love the darker tile on the floors.
We are starting to have it feel like home.
We are grateful to be here and to begin a new chapter of an already wonderful life!!!

Wow! What awesome family pictures! What a great looking crew and how neat to be able to slip it in while all the family was home for a few days.
And from what I could see of your new home, it looks REALLY nice! It will be fun to visit when things settle down. I must admit that I'm one who LOVES change and variety. Here's to a new adventure!
PS My Dad and I were talking the other day (about my own "woes," and he dispelled a pearl of wisdom: some things in life aren't just for enduring, but for enduring WELL. Thank you both for being such a phenomenal example of this!
Love your list, Cindy. Both of them... I can relate to all your changes and have to admit I'd be murmuring about the heat at night, too. Isn't it nice, tho, when you walk in and think, "ah, I'm home..." I also have to say I'm loving your quotes from "The Help". I'm reading it right now--wow, powerful book--but so funny, too.
Sorry to hear about the A/C AGAIN!!! :( Hopefully they get it FIXED this time around!
I really love your new home. It's feels very "homey" and I look forward to sitting outside around the big table chatting and looking out onto the pretty greens! i LOVE all your windows too!
so, my friend taught me that cleaning the windows with your Windex-type cleaner and newsprint will give you a streak-free clean. It worked in my car. You can just use those free ads at the grocery store if you don't get the paper. let me know if it works for you too!
