My immediate family is well aware of the struggle Elder Brian is having right now in the MTC. He is struggling with learning the Spanish language. He's fighting discouragement every day. He fights his natural tendency to compare himself with those around him...who in his eyes, seem to be progressing faster than he.
So..in a way, I find this first photo from him rather telling. And Im trying hard not to let it 'get to me.' Here he is, a handsome, 6 foot 5" guy, and he slumps himself down to a height smaller than his "intolerant" companion. It kind of breaks my mommy heart!!!
But on the other hand....I hope he knows how very, very proud I am of him!! For his letters are mostly full of determination---for he is going to give it is all and not give up!! For this I know he will be rewarded!!! He was called to Chile for a reason!!! There is someone there waiting for him!! Waiting for his testimony, for his experience, for his talents. We are so excited to watch and learn from Brian!!!

Ah, the learning process...why does it have to be so dang hard? Love and prayers to Elder Brian and his mommy...
So glad to hear that Brian is doing better. We're keeping him in our daily prayers, as are so many. Thanks for the photos of his amazing trip all by himself to the Grand Canyon. We love that boy!
I remember Stephen went through much of the same stuff in the MTC in Brazil. Brian will be ok - I know it! and so will you, though I know it is hard on moms, isn't it?
