Stephenson Family Ties The Barn Burnt Down
And Now I See The Moon

15 1/2 Miles!!! Thank You Very Much!!!

I think it pisses God off if you walk by
the color purple in a field somewhere
and don't notice it.... People think
pleasing God is all God care about.
But any fool living in the world can
see it always trying to please us back.

We began our hike before the sun rise. Let me clue you in....a sunrise in Kolob is a treat. It was 20 degrees cooler, and a delightful breeze blew for the full 7 hours we hiked.
Kolob Canyon is part of Zion National Park!! Its quickly becoming my second favorite place to hike!! Today we did another new hike....into the Kolob Arch.
We were treated all along the way to a wide variety of wild flowers. Flowers that have been long gone in St George. The purple ones below were new to me....and they are so cheerful!! I've got to find out what they are called!!!

This is LeVerikin Creek. Busting its banks with spring run off. Its delightful to hike along a frothing river. It was even more delightful to cool our piggies in the stream.

Firecracker Penstemon
Kolob Arch is one of the longest spanning freestanding arches in the world. It was created as a result of vertical joint expansion, wall collapse and erosion. (I dont know what that means, not really; all I know is that its REALLY cool and spectacular!!!)

While doing some reading on the arch, I discovered that the average length of time it takes to make this hike.....12 hours. We hiked it in 7!!!! How do you say CRAZY!!!??? or sore feet!!!??
It was a gorgeous hike....and I would do it again in a heart beat; In cool weather that is.

That really looks like a gorgeous place. But I must admit, that I can't imagine hiking for 7 OR 12 hours! You are in good shape, lady!
