This is Berk. It snows nine months out of the year,
and hails the other three. What little food grows
here is tough and tasteless. The people that grow
here, even more so. The only upsides are the pets.
While other places have ponies, or parrots... we have dragons.

So what is it about me and movies with super cool flying scenes?
Oh wait...
Maybe, just maybe, Im not nearly so unique as I think I am. Hollywood wouldnt spend the millions and millions of dollars that they do on special effect flying scenes just for little ole me would they??? Could there be ever so many people that feel the same as I do every time I watch the heart-pounding, exhilarating flights that man, dragons, reptiles of unknown origin, air planes and star ships take?!!
Maybe so.
There are a LOT of great stunt flying movies!!!
StarWars
Top Gun
Avatiar
Star Trek
James Bond movies
Flyboys
.....and now Im adding....
How To Train Your Dragon
I thought it would be fun to share with you some of my impressions of this new Pixstar movie.
*Great flying!!! reminiscent of Avatar....
Presence of the ever common and important theme: Make Love not War (even when it comes to mis-understood dragons)
Hairy armed vikings with bulging muscles are impressive...even though animated. They ripple and flex and the hair ruffles in the wind. Very impressive!!!
A viking with only the voice of Gerard Butler is still incredibly sexy...even after discovering he's wearing a breastcap horn hat.
Craig Fergesen is and always will be hilarious!!!
Prostetics are getting cooler and cooler, starting way back in prehistoric times!!
A female sidekick is always a good idea
and finally....
Having a little grandson sitting on your lap during a movie, only increases its enjoyability!!!

I absolutely loved this movie! I hope you saw it in 3D. I'm not a huge fan of 3D, but in this instance it is a MUST!! There was a scene where dust or feathers or something started flying, and it made you want to reach out and grab them as they were flying at your face. Fantastic! Story line, colors, flying sequences, everything was so entertaining. This is one I'll buy - just wish my television could show it in 3D....
Did you go with LRS? Did he like it? He's such a movie boy, I'm sure he did. I want to see this one now...maybe this week!
i was a little bit confused by Lisa's post b/c my initials are LRS, too! i never knew!
but it was such an awesome movie. i LOVED it! you're right - it would have been better with my niece and nephew who also loved it.
