When you're chewing on life's gristle
Dont grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best,
And...always look on the bright side of life....
Always look on the light side of life.

Most of our guests at Desert Cliffs tramp along behind me or in front of me, looking at there feet, mumbling under their breath and wondering what lapse in wisdom brought them to such a place as St George, Utah!!! Almost all guest make a mild mention of the beauty that surrounds us. But...once in a while we get a guest that "gets" this desert almost instantly.
Meet Amanda!!!
Even while sweating, puking and aching through every single cell of her body, Amanda takes in all that's around her into her very soul. Amanda smiles, is awed, and finds beauty and whimsy in everything she sees. Amanda adds and enriches our hiking experience. And though she declares emphatically that she'd much rather go home to her man and her daughter and eat fried chicken and gravy biscuits and smoke a cigarette.... still she pushes on and on and on, climbing sand hills and scaling boulders.
AND NOW..... Amanda marvels that after only 1 1/2 weeks her panties are slipping off her thinning butt, her feet are surviving and she still hasnt had a smoke. She also hasnt puked in days!!!
She is surviving and thriving!!! Plus, she's lost inches....which I believe is her highest priority and what she is most thrilled about.
We here at Desert Cliffs revel in her success.
We are looking forward to seeing pictures of her in the designer dream wedding dress that is waiting for her to slip into when she gets home. There she will bask in the love of her husband and in the empowerment she has earned in doing so many VERY hard things all at once!!!
Illinois is full of people that love her and who are very anxious for her return. But now Utah has folks that love her too...and we will do most anything to see that she returns to us to visit and hike and laugh with her once again. We are blessed to have her with us for two more weeks and as guides at Desert Cliffs, we'll jostle for the opportunity to hike with her each morning...in order to enjoy the adventure all the more.
Life is good when you have Amanda walking by you trailside!!!

Love the "Amandasaurous" pic! It's gotta be so much fun to hike with people from all over the place and get to know them! :) It's probably just as fun watching them gain confidence and strength as they go too. Best Wishes Amanda!!! :)
