Stephenson Family Ties The Barn Burnt Down
And Now I See The Moon
...books are as important as almost
anything else on earth. What a
miracle it is that out of these small,
fat, rigid squares of paper unfolds
world after world, worlds that sing to
you, comfort and quiet or excite you.
...They are full of all the things
that you dont get in real life-
wonderful, lyrical language...

Ok....this book really is going to be hard to top!! And that's saying a lot, considering its only January!!
But really...the artistry of language in this book is hard to compare to anything else I've read. The character development is amazing. This little Montana community with all its endearing and eccentric members are now my new best friends!!
I will read Chapter 12 of this book over and over again. Its a favorite!! There are snowball fights and school flag raising and all sorts of antics in the one room school house!! Mr Morrie Morgan will go down as an all time favorite teacher....without having ever been officially introduced!!
I look forward to reading more of Ivan Doig!!!

I loved it too! And believe it or not, it brought me to big smiles AND tears when they all started playing their harmonics for "comet night"! This will be one of my all time FAVORITE books!
