Im a Womens Conference junkie.
Im a self proclaimed movie junkie as well.
Mix W.C. with a 3 day sleep over and there's always a movie night!
This year we choose a movie that none of us had heard of before. (often a risky thing to do)
Thurs. night we watched a movie entitled SWEET LAND.
We were far from disappointed!!!
Here we found a tender tale; a prairie love story to put a finer point on it. An American immigrant love story and experience.
It was ideal watching this with a gaggle of romantic ladies. We found ourselves "coaching" with vehement passion, the struggling couple throughout their ordeals.
Anna was incredulous that there ever was or is such a thing as 'mail-order brides!! (poor sheltered child)
I've recommended quite a few movies to you my readers over the last year or so...I hope that I have built your trust. Grab a girlfriend, and please find yourself enjoying this visually delectable tale!!

And now, switching genre's completely!!!!
By Builder bravely went where only the best of husbands go....to the long lines and late night showing of the new STAR TREK movie with crazy me!!
As soon as I learned that J.J. Abrams- my favorite producer/director of all things "other worldly" was getting his creative head wrapped around the Star Trek saga, I KNEW I wouldnt be disappointed with a 'remake.' But....it really isnt a remake, at a foreshadow of things pre-Enterprise; and the telling of how the womanising, rambunctious James Kirk becomes the captain of the Enterprise, and how he meets up with his quirky crew.
The movie was all that I"d hoped it to be!! It was funny, laugh out-loud funny, it was high adventure, and the special effects and aliens and villain were out of this world. (pun intended)
Gone are the days when I sat in a neighbours basement to watch William Shatner and Leonard Nemoy warp into the final frontiers of the the galaxy!! I was a pre-teen, living in Maryland when I became hooked--ie. a junkie to the sci-fi stuff.

There is genius behind beginning again with a whole new cast of beautiful young actors. Im sure that I will soon be found sitting once again in a darkened, overly air conditioned theater, watching more adventures of the star-ship Enterprise.
ahhhhhh yes, life is good!!

We did Star Trek this weekend too! I loved it as well, though I'm sure my "kids" won't get it as well as we do. It was just fun. Now, I need to go see "Sweet Land." Sounds like my kind of movie. Thanks for the suggestions!
