Stephenson Family Ties The Barn Burnt Down
And Now I See The Moon
I am wishing that I had the tongue of an angel for moments like this!!! I wish that I could worthily express what is in my heart!!
My dear son married a woman that came to this earth with strong, innate gifts for mothering. She is a mother to all. A mother with heart, tenderness, common sense, and an intuition that many of us of the female gender had to WORK years to foster in ourselves. And this dear lady, began to worry, early on, that she wouldn't be able to have children of her own. (a worry that I never once thought would be a reality.)
And then....thankfully, gratefully, a pregnancy ensued!!???
And then.... worry that the pregnancy wouldnt hold. So bed rest was required, for 10 weeks. Knowledgeable, competent, TRUSTED doctors saw to her throughout, and kept real worries at bay. Soon (but feeling an eternity to Natalie) the critical period of development passed, and we all began to breath easier!!!
And then....symptoms of toxemia began to rear its ugly head, and it looked as though Logan was going to have to be coaxed out a little early after all.
And then....Nature stepped in a took the reins again, and started the trival on its own.
This morning, I was once again greatly privileged to be in a most sacred and honored and blessed place- to watch and participate in the birth of our 2nd grandson!!! I know it truly is a privilege and a gift to be a witness at such sacred events. I am so grateful to Natalie and Joe for letting me take up space on the stodgy hospital sofa, in the far corner of the room, and behold the miracle that can be described as nothing less than a sacred, spiritual experience.
I am grateful beyond words.
How can a mere mortal such as I begin to describe the bliss one feels when a brand new baby, perfectly formed, and functioning, and smelling as only heaven can smell... it is what it is!!! And... this little bundle of joy has an added amusement and beguilement, of having such a head of hair that we still are marveling at his tufts, each time we gaze upon his angelic face!!!
We know that Logan's little face will change remarkably over the next 72 hours-due to the battering one takes, coming into this harsh world. But his nose is definitely Natalies and always will be!!! His eyes and forehead region look to belong to Joe!! The hair... ????....is one of lifes wondrous mysteries!! Thats one of the great joys of parenting--mixing the gene pool each time, and seeing what each child becomes!!

SOME OF MY MOST PRONOUNCED THOUGHTS FOR THIS DAY:
*Thank God for modern medicine! Without it, maybe there wouldnt have been a fuzzy headed boy gracing our life this day!! It should also be noted that the doctors and nurses that worked with Joe and Nat this day were wonderful!! I was impressed. (I havent been impressed before) I was pleasantly surprised with the care they each received. They were/are in good hands. What sweet comfort this was and is.
*Thank heaven for family!!! For sisters, mothers, brothers, grandparents, aunts and uncles, united in common ideals and wishes in nurturing and growing families together!!
*Birth is a miracle!! A woman's body is a miracle!!!
*Instant, overwhelming, uncontrollable, unconditional, LOVE!!!
*Gratitude to a power MUCH greater than any of us!!
*I am so grateful for my life and for my experiences, my grandmahood!!! And that I get to share them with a really marvelous grandpa!!!

AMEN to all you said. I too was fortunate to witness the miracle of birth by invitation, just a few days ago. A moment I will long remember. Congratulations to all.

Dear Cindy,
I usually don't comment on the actual blogs, but I do read them.
Little Logan is just so darling, that hair is going to be grand fun.
Natalie looked like she weathered the storm and healthy sweet baby
looks fabulous.
Pass my excitement and joy along to them with extra kisses (babies
smell so good and have such sweet skin).
Who was her doctor?
Of course Lachlin (sp) is still fabulous, just not the newest.
Love,
Sue

Congratulations, new G&G! He is adorable, and we know he will only get BETTER with all the great genes in both families. The hair is to die for! We've giggled, too. We're so happy for all of you. You expressed it perfectly.
