Im curious.
Who knows if the 'Franklin' planner phenomenon is strictly a Utah/Mormon thing?
I dont know the answer to this rhetorical question, but its a perfect lead into my ramblings for this Sunday.
Here are more of my thoughts on happiness, joy, lightening up, and letting ones hair down.
Are we Latter-day Saints control freaks?!?
Do we attempt to have such strict control of our lives, by trying to make sure that everything happens that "should" happen? (how many of us actually make list to cross things off and even 'write-in' items that werent originally on the first list-and THEN cross them off?! Or am I the only loser?) Is each and every day all about activities and the Quantity of activities?! Are we working hard to be busy and to foster a rush, rush, rushing feeling to our lives? Do we feel more 'worthy' if we are busy? Im wondering if some of us really believe that such control in ones life brings greater spirituality? Control does make one feel safe. Control does make one feel powerful. But greater spirituality=I think NOT!!
I heard a talk at Womens Conference years ago where a challenge was issued to the women who attended. It was a challenge that would help us let go of some control. We were challenged to put away our planner for a space of time. The precept was that such strict control of ones day is the OPPOSITE of letting oneself surrender to what God wants to have happen in our life. Maybe planning so well, and filling ones day with so much 'stuff' leaves very little room for Heavenly Father to act in our life. There would be no need to ask our Father in Heaven for direction or guidance, if there is no room for action. Life would be easier (there, I said it again) and possibly more joyful and definitely more spontaneous if we could leave spaces, and time for God to come in and fill that space with what He'd like to have us do. How about leaving some time to become an instrument of God?!
I was just thinking..... during a empty space in my day.....

true that. let's let our hair down, be a little crazy, and enjoy life.
let's go for a drive. or sit outside and look up at the sky and airplanes and clouds.
let's just sit back and crochet another hat to give to a friend or someone in need.
but let's not make it mandatory b/c then it would be another "TO DO".
let's be spontaneous.
You got me thinking all week about this one Cindy. Do you want to send it to the Ensign or do you want me to? (I'm serious!) Thanks for the "food for thought".
