I Dont Want to EAT My Young!!
One of my little fishy's is making noises about breaking formation and leaving us! Speaking as a grandma fish, Im not very happy about this development. (Grandpa fish is in the rocky salt marsh-for planting the suggestion!) I realize that on one fin you want your guppies to 'go and see the world,' if they desire it. Then on the other fin, you want to keep them close-especially when they are having sweet little minnows to amuse us and consume our hearts. My notorious snoop-fish and his sweet angel-fish helpmate are applying for work in the bigger pond of Salt Lake City. I think I even caught a gleam in their eyes about heading north;as if a big fat worm is enticing them. And yes I fully realize that it could be much worse. They could be swimming to a distant coast-like we did when we were young. But...if I were in charge of the sea, I'd have them build a nest on our unattended, neglected land out back. For I also believe that there's something to be said for families stick'in together-swimming in a school for encouragement and protection and amusement. I also have the sick feeling that once the flood gates are opened, other of my tadpoles will join in the migration!! They too will want to head to larger waters, taking their little tadpoles with them!!
And YES, I know its selfish of me!!! My fishy's have beautiful, angel companions with their own families that live and enjoy that bigger pond, with its COLD waters and busy currents and diversity of 'marine life.' (Why oh why would they want to leave these Warm waters?!) Im positive that grandma and grandpa fishes of the north, long to have their girly fishy's join them. So Im trying to remember to SHARE! And to share with buoyant cheerfulness, and a good attitude.(gulp)
What I Know-should this happen:
*I'll purchase a hybrid car-for the road trips to visit.
*I'll down-size this cumbersome, too large of a home, for smaller, simpler domain. And..find a small nest in the north too!!
*I'll swim an eddy to where the fishy's float with their guppies.
*I will NOT become an ugly, possessive mother fish!!
*I will NOT eat my young!!

that's a picture I've never seen before!
Ewey! (as Lynley would say! hehe)
Awesome way to put it! If snoop-fish (LOVE THAT!) keeps applying up north, it just might happen, but i'm TRYING not to get my hopes up.
Love this!! how creative you are. you keep saying that you have to turn on your creative flow, but i think that really, it's always on, soaking up new things and releasing them simultaneously.
you're so great. i know that my mom would love to have us all closer too. i thinks it's hard for her having all her fishies leave her warm southern waters, too. but she enjoys the visits and awaits the next ones.
the picture is great, too. i don't think the fishy is eating them though, just being WAYYYYYY too overprotective.
Ok, I can see how that would be such a drag to lose your little snoop/angel tad pole among your fish, but sorry if I utter a little WHAHOO! We've been trying to get them to look up here forever!
Of course who knows what will happen, but it's definitely bitter-sweet and a little exciting. Change is always a little exciting in my book. ;) Keep us updated!
