We love it when our pool is put to use and when the games come out of the closet and are dusted off and used!! We've have so enjoyed having the Hills here from Toronto Canada, and the Griggs here from Nashville, Tn!! The Neilsons arrived last night from Payson! Up until the time that Clark speaks at Church on the 20th, we expect more and more family and friends to arrive!! I think we've determined that we haven't seen some of these folks-our family-for about 10 years!! Its so great to become reacquainted and to have some of the family meet one another for the first time!! Kiddies are growing up fast! We old folks are looking better than ever!! New members have been added by marriage or births. Homes that are used to being quiet and calm, now have chick'lets running through the halls and yards. Having company forces us off our duffs and gets us out 'entertaining'!!!
Have I mentioned before how much I LOVE THE SUMMERTIME?!!

The other evening we were fortunate enough to go out to Santa Clara, where we have Broadway in the Desert, at Tuacan. This was the evening they put on The Sound of Music. It was delightful, and enjoyable and HOT!! (Its an ampitheater- for those that haven't experienced it YET) Lynley, my cuz, did a beautiful job of describing the night here. I would just like to expound a little more about how the Nazi 'thing' affected me. The Julie Andrews version does an adequate job in trying to instill the evilness of the Nazi's coming into Austria and 'disturbing the peace.' Its a kid movie for crying out loud. They did the best they could. This production at Tuacan the other night was at liberty to carry it a little bit further. And it wasn't that they changed the script in any way. Not that I could tell. (There was 1 new song that's not in the movie version) No, it had nothing to do with the script. After the intermission, the story picked up intensity. And when the two huge Nazi flags were raised up high in 'my' beautiful red rock canyon, my heart sunk, and a feeling of dread spread through my whole body. I didn't like seeing them there. (duh) Not where I hike and am able to share its grandeur with others. Not where its so easy to commune with God and find peace and tranquility. (NOT anywhere for that matter!!) That red flag with its ugly 'spider' in the center is offensive!! Then...to make it feel all the more dreadful...we see German soldiers marching up and down the theater steps watching us, watching us, and at times even shouting at us, in German, to be quiet. It was a VERY EFFECTIVE way to have us as audience members feel the oppression of this regime. VERY EFFECTIVE. I was never so happy to finally have the Von Trapp family break out into song as they literally climbed up our red rock mountainside all the while singing "Climb Every Mountain!!"
Whew!! It was all 'make-believe' right............
Very Impressive Show! It was wonderful to share it with so much family!!

I love the "rubber ducks" next to your pool. If you look at any of our pool shots on my blog they always include the obsession we have with rubber ducks...they each have a name!! Aren't grandkids the best??
It allows us to be "Kids" again and play!!
Fondly, B.
i have to tell you that i actually felt the exact same way. the oppression, like humidity back home, could be felt, both spiritually and physically. the performers at tuachan did a great job. it's hard to know that there have been and will continue to be such oppressive people/leaders. it doesn't seem like a problem that could be finitely solved either. you get rid of one, and there's another to replace. hmmmmmm... but i loved your post, and i'm glad that i as way at the end so you can't really see me in the picture!!
