Stephenson Family Ties The Barn Burnt Down
And Now I See The Moon
I hear there's an old classic movie...I wont be seeing it. My minds eye of this sweet autobiographical story is much better than Hollywood could ever pull off!!
As you know...I dont read many books over again...there are too many unread books on my lists- but this one was sitting on Anna's shelf, waiting for her to read it. (David would love it too!) So I picked it up while we were visiting and re-read it.
This reading left me with a few impressions. First: society complains about how we are "growing our kids up too quickly." Well Im here to say- it just aint so!!! Ralph Moody, the young boy in this story was forced to grow up and be a man and do mature things earilier than we could imagine in this day and age. This is a story about a family that moves from the hustle and bustle of the east coast, out to the plains of Colorado to begin trying to scrap out a living there on a ranch. There are adventures and heartaches and horse loving and good times!! I've heard this series being compared to Little House on the Prairie for boys. Its a fair comparison. There are wonderful life lessons and inspiring examples of honesty, and never giving up. Its a GREAT read aloud book for kids!! Five stars from me!!!!
