Stephenson Family Ties The Barn Burnt Down
And Now I See The Moon

Sabbath Musings

Many a night I woke to the murmer
of paper and knew Dad was up, sitting
in the kitchen with frayed King James
-oh, but he worked that book; he held
to it like a rope ladder.

I know that no one has ever heard me say it before...
but boy is my job a blessing!!!
Who knew that hiking would require me to know who I am, and even more importantly, that hiking would require me to rehearse exactly what it is I believe as a Mormon. (if I had a dollar for every time Im questioned about my beliefs, our money troubles would no longer exist!)
Its good for me to be out of my comfort zone.
I think I've said that before.
Its good for me to attempt to explain myself on a regular basis.
I find that as I do - the Spirit often testifies to ME once again of the truthfulness of the things Im saying. What a gift this is for me!
There is a list of things that make us Mormons peculiar.
Top of the list of peculiarities...
we Mormons believe in modern day revelation.
The heavens havent closed or been sealed!!
We believe in the Bible, most assuredly, but we also believe in a God who is unchanging and so we know that God continues to reveal pertinent revelations and guidance for us, right now!
God always used prophets! Why would He stop now...when we need it the most!!??
We have a prophet here on the earth right now!!!
And not too long ago we were privileged to hear him speak to the world. We call this modern-day revelation- and I relish the word!!!
I've been re-reading the counsel given us by our prophet, seers and revelators who are inspired and inspiring!!
Two of my favorite talks thus far in my reading are THIS ONE by DIETER F. UCHTDORF and THIS ONE by DAVID M. MCCONKIE.
Our Heavenly Father indeed loves us and its so obvious when we read and listen to these called servants of God. Even now we are being taught about what's important in this life and how to return to live with our Father in Heaven once again.
Read these couple of talks and see if you dont agree with me--that these men speak in God's name, for Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ.
Go ahead friends not of my faith-give it a try, I dare ya!! I love you!!
