Stephenson Family Ties The Barn Burnt Down
And Now I See The Moon
The older one need a stocking full of
confidence, not candy and nuts. He thinks
he needs a girl, but we both know she wouldnt
fit in his stocking. I think confidence that
he is capable and bright is what he needs this year.

Its happened again....
Another child of ours has walked out the door this morning and squeezed himself into a fully gorged Camry to carry himself and all his worldly possessions northward. And he didnt even look back. Before he left I tried to get him to talk to me about his feelings....that's a joke of course. All I got from him was that he's leaving with mixed feelings. hummmm
What I have been able to deduct is that he's a little flummoxed about leaving the ease of living at home. He's very excited to take real college courses that interest him again. ie SCIENCE.
And he's looking forward to hanging with the cousins and beginning the real college life. But he knows that the classes will be harder and more challenging-compared to the ones he took here at Dixie State. ( if you ask him about his philosophy class he took here though- it wasnt for the faint-hearted by any stretch of the imagination! You should have seen the reading list!!) Clark's not sure he likes the prospect of snow for the next few months either; but he did stuff his snowboard in the car.
All I know is that it never gets easier to let go of the baby chicks or the adolescent chicks or even the grown-up birds...
I shed a tear or two, choked on the lump in my throat and sincerely wished him the best and happiest of times at college.
Alas...its not too difficult to remember my college days. They were the the best!!! Living away from home, meeting new people, dating like gang-busters-for I didnt date much in high school.
Have fun my love!!
Godspeed!!
Stay in touch...for your mommy is a little jealous!!

Ahh, I can so relate to your feelings. College life was a blast and its great to have our kids experience it, but it is pretty hard to let go. Think of all those cousins up there at BYU now. Such fun they will all have, and maybe they'll even get together now and then. I told Mel that she and Carly will have to have the boys over once a month or more and feed them! That might get them to come.

I'm so excited for all of them! I LOVED being there back in the dark ages. Hopefully Stephen will connect as well.
